On Monday, New York City’s Lincoln Center housed this year’s CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards, sometimes referred to as “the Oscars of fashion,” and as is the trend for award shows and the like this year, several celebrities were sporting one-shoulder dresses. Both Gwyneth Paltrow , in Michael Kors, and Alexis Bledel , in Behnaz Sarafpour, looked chic in their Grecian-inspired looks.

The celebrities were out in force last Sunday when the MTV movie awards took place in LA. And what an amazing show it was with the prettiest and most glamorous stars dressed up and looking stunning in their costume jewellery and gorgeous dresses and tuxes

Heidi Klum was recently spotted out wearing a beautiful leopard print tank with silver snake ring and a drop lariat necklace.  The idea is to have the drop portion of the necklace point toward the dip front of the tank, allowing you to wear more than one look at once.  She wore two very different looks at once, but smartly paired, they pulled her whole outfit together.

Interestingly, the lustrous pearl is the alternative June birthstone, not the traditional June birthstone. Yet, most people think of the pearl as the June birthstone simply because the traditional gem for June babies is a scarce, obscure one – Alexandrite. Alexandrite is a young gemstone, and was only discovered in the mid 1800s

So, here’s the rundown on the red carpet styles as seen at this years MTV Movie Awards: Kristen Stewart: Love the return of the long, not so much the ponytail, but better than nothing. Definitely a lot less rocker than last year, but I like seeing her more feminine side. I think she did well by wearing only a simple long gold necklace .

As we all saw from the fashions at the Cannes Film Festival, the best looking celebrities looked good because they obeyed the number one rule of fashion.  To be noticed, dress simply.  They wore beautiful gowns, but simple, natural hairstyles, with focus on organic looking, classic jewelry. The were color rings , like the one Carey Mulligan wore, which stands out against her pop art print dress.There were flowing, gauzy dresses, like those worn by Vanessa Paradis, Johnny Depp’s paramour, who paired her quiet glam with an old school charm  bracelet . There were goddess dresses, worn only as Salma Hayek can!  And she wisely paired it with a micro beaded gold mesh necklace and bracelet , with only small, simple earrings.

If you are lucky enough to have loose pearls lying around your house you should do something with them. After all, pearls do not come cheap, and if you have a bunch of loose pearls lying around then you are going to have a lot of things that you can make with them. In fact, you are going to be able to make all types of jewelry to wear with your loose pearls, and I guess that is why women love getting loose pearls as a gift
